Washington and Oregon Wine Tour!

October 24 – 30, 2015

Uvaggio Wine Bar would like to invite you on a “can’t miss” dream vacation. I’d like to say it’s a once in a lifetime trip but we are planning on hosting these travels at least twice a year. So grab your bags and say “salmon” as we are heading to Washington and Oregon for a week of wine tasting, world class cuisine, wine barrel tasting, rock n roll and the most scenic vineyards in all the land.

Sunday, October 24
Our trip will commence on Sunday when our driver will pick us up at the Pasco, WA airport to deliver us to our first stop and home for the next three nights, Walla Walla Faces Inn. For the next few days you will awaken to overlook the most picturesque vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley. And guess what, Walla Walla is a historic small town and is home to some of the finest wineries in the world. Our first night we will visit Sleight of Hand winery, where we will enjoy countless wines with the owners and winemaker while enjoying regional cuisine prepared by local chefs and finish the night with some rock-n-roll!

Monday, October 25
Next day it’s up and out as we have a date with the youngest person to ever receive their Master sommelier degree, Greg Harrington, owner/winemaker of Gramercy Cellars. We will try some of the greatest Syrah in the world and perhaps even help make a blend. After lunch with Greg we will head to Woodward Canyon, one of the oldest and most iconic wineries in Washington to visit with owners Rick Small and his daughter Jordan. After an afternoon touring and tasting, you will have some free time to spend the evening in the beautifully quaint town of Walla Walla.

Tuesday, October 26
On Tuesday we will visit two more wineries (Pepper Bridge and Leonetti) where we will meet with their winemakers and owners to do comparative tastings of some of the greatest Bordeaux blends in the states. We’ll enjoy another locally sourced meal at the wineries and return everyone to their room early as we’ve got to hit the road the next day.

Wednesday, October 27
Wednesday morning up and at ‘em as our driver is taking us to Oregon where we will switch our focus from Bordeaux varieties to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and others. We will break up the drive with a small lunch on the way to our home for the next 3 days, a 9 room Bed and Breakfast in the heart of Willamette Valley. We will be taking over the B&B with our group, and will give ourselves the afternoon off to enjoy all the inn provides; horseback riding, trail hikes, massage, horseshoes and wine tasting. That evening we will head into McMinnville for shopping, food and drinks.

Thursday, October 28
Our next day is spent with two of the most iconic winemakers and the forefathers of Oregon wine; a day with David Adelsheim at Adelshiem Vineyards and an afternoon with Ken Wright of Ken Wright Cellars. These are two of the kings of American wine and all around bad ass dudes. We’ll enjoy tasting from barrels with both and enjoy a single vineyard tasting with David. Afterwards we’ll have an afternoon tour with Ken Wright and then join him for a wine inspired private dinner and indulge from his personal cellar.

Friday, October 29
Friday on our final full day in Willamette will be a tour of the southern part of the valley, Eola-Amity hills. Here we will visit two more of the icons of pinot noir in the world Mark Vlossak of St. Innocent winery and Steve Dormer of Cristom Cellars. We will enjoy a food and wine pairing luncheon with Mark in the blending room at the winery and get into what makes Eola-Amity different from the rest of Oregon with Steve.

Saturday, October 30
Saturday we will drop everyone in Portland. Arrangements can be made to drop at the airport or a hotel if you wish to stay over in the city. Feel free to enjoy all the city has to offer from some of the best restaurants, microbreweries, food trucks, city scape, nature hikes, hippies, etc…. Or of course extend your trip before or after the Uvaggio tour.

The Nitty Gritty Details:

  • All in all we will visit no less than eight world-class wineries where we will have “backdoor access”.
  • Enjoy many completely different styles of wines, dine at a wineries and the best Pacific Northwest restaurants
  • Get dirty in the wineries and break bread and share wine with some of the greatest winemakers and winery owners in the Unites States and the world

Your accommodations, transportation (once you arrive for the tour – airfare is not included), breakfast each morning and wine tastings are included, as well as most lunches and dinners (there are a few meals you will be responsible for).

As always, I will be your host throughout the week and your contact for any and everything. Our driver is a friend and will remain with us the entire stay.
